Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 5.10% or 1.51 points to trade at 31.13 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 5.03% or 0.37 points to end at 7.72 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) was up 4.52% or 3.65 points to 84.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 1.53% or 0.12 points to trade at 7.73 in late trade. BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) declined 1.26% or 0.35 points to end at 27.45 and Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) shed 0.84% or 0.31 points to 36.59.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 255 to 172 and 35 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.70% to 33.56.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.27% or 16.25 to $1294.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.63% or 1.45 to hit $56.59 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.29% or 2.90 to trade at $123.75 .
USD/BRL was down 0.52% to 3.2570, while EUR/BRL fell 0.22% to 3.8447.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 93.52.
