Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.36% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 6.21% or 1.34 points to trade at 22.93 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) added 5.10% or 1.48 points to end at 30.48 and B2W Cia Digital (SA:BTOW3) was up 4.63% or 1.86 points to 42.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Via Varejo SA (SA:VVAR3), which lost 4.72% or 0.20 points to trade at 4.04 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 3.55% or 0.36 points to end at 9.77 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) shed 3.40% or 1.63 points to 46.36.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 233 to 219 and 29 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.72% to 33.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.34% or 4.40 to $1285.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.41% or 1.17 to hit $49.69 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.48% or 2.55 to trade at $105.30 .
USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.7136, while EUR/BRL fell 0.89% to 4.2473.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 95.512.
