Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which rose 3.82% or 0.43 points to trade at 11.70 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 2.88% or 0.15 points to end at 5.35 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) was up 2.57% or 0.92 points to 36.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which lost 3.96% or 0.70 points to trade at 16.99 in late trade. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) declined 2.09% or 0.74 points to end at 34.75 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) shed 1.69% or 0.32 points to 18.58.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 241 to 137 and 37 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.30% to 33.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.20% or 2.50 to $1250.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.18% or 0.67 to hit $57.36 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.20% or 0.25 to trade at $122.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.04% to 3.2919, while EUR/BRL rose 0.00% to 3.8741.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 93.87.
