Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which rose 3.19% or 0.53 points to trade at 17.15 at the close. Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) added 2.88% or 0.79 points to end at 28.18 and Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) was up 2.43% or 1.23 points to 51.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which lost 8.16% or 0.82 points to trade at 9.23 in late trade. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 4.43% or 0.45 points to end at 9.70 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 4.22% or 0.52 points to 11.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 273 to 166 and 24 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.32% to 32.12.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.20 to $1318.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.45% or 0.28 to hit $61.36 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 1.60% or 1.95 to trade at $123.92 .
USD/BRL was up 0.16% to 3.2513, while EUR/BRL rose 0.71% to 3.9867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 90.24.
