Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 1.83% or 0.71 points to trade at 39.42 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.37% or 0.34 points to end at 24.85 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.26% or 0.34 points to 27.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 2.38% or 0.85 points to trade at 35.01 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.31% or 1.050 points to end at 79.280 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 1.15% or 1.40 points to 120.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 50 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 8.27 to $1283.57 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.60% or 0.34 to hit $56.76 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.24 to trade at $62.46 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1739, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8869.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 93.88.
