Sept 13 (Reuters) - Australian shares are expected to edge lower on Thursday as financial stocks bear the brunt of an ongoing inquiry into the sector, while mining stocks are expected to be hurt by weaker commodity prices.
The local share price index futures YAPcm1 fell 17 points to 6162.0, a 13.9-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index .AXJO close. The benchmark fell slightly on Wednesday.
New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index .NZ50 fell 0.2 percent in early trade.
