Aug 24 (Reuters) - Australian shares are poised to open lower on Monday after the country recorded 17 new coronavirus deaths on Sunday as it grapples with a second wave of the pandemic.
The local share price index futures YAPcm1 fell 0.2%, a 54.2-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index .AXJO close. The benchmark slipped 0.1% on Friday.
New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index .NZ50 edged 0.2% higher in early trade.
