Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which rose 3.19% or 72.0 points to trade at 2331.0 at the close. Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) added 2.89% or 95.5 points to end at 3401.5 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 2.20% or 0.630 points to 29.290 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MMK (MCX:MAGN), which lost 3.27% or 1.020 points to trade at 30.150 in late trade. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 2.80% or 85.0 points to end at 2955.0 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) shed 2.23% or 2.85 points to 125.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 96 and 29 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.67% to 26.440.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.25 to $1278.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.51% or 0.23 to hit $45.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $46.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.06% to 63.6745, while EUR/RUB fell 0.37% to 70.203.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.90.
