Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Machinery and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.53% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jean (TW:2442), which rose 9.98% or 0.60 points to trade at 6.61 at the close. Walton (TW:8110) added 9.91% or 1.05 points to end at 11.65 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 9.77% or 1.25 points to 14.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which lost 5.00% or 0.300 points to trade at 5.700 in late trade. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 4.95% or 0.10 points to end at 1.92 and Lily Textile (TW:1443) shed 4.61% or 0.23 points to 4.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 403 to 312 and 131 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.73% or 0.34 to $45.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.55% or 0.26 to hit $47.39 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.46% or 6.20 to trade at $1338.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 31.351, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2120.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.35.
