Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 3.61% or 0.0007 points to trade at 0.0201 at the close. The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) added 3.12% or 0.0840 points to end at 2.7720 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) was up 2.41% or 0.1350 points to 5.7370 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which lost 1.50% or 0.0260 points to trade at 1.7030 in late trade. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 1.46% or 0.0100 points to end at 0.6740 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) shed 1.07% or 0.0120 points to 1.1090.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 17 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 1.67% or 0.79 to $46.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.84% or 0.84 to hit $44.91 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.89% or 11.75 to trade at $1331.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1012, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8334.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 97.02.
