LONDON, July 31 (Reuters) - Nyrstar NYR.BR has restarted production at its Port Pirie lead smelter in Australia, the Belgian-headquartered metals and mining company said on Thursday.
The smelter halted output on May 28 due to an unplanned outage at the blast furnace.
"I can confirm that operations at Port Pirie have resumed with both the TSL furnace and blast furnace now operating normally," a spokesman said in an email.
Nyrstar, owned by trading house Trafigura, lost 30,000 tonnes of lead metal due to the outage, the company said on July 19. Pirie produced 160,000 tonnes of lead metal last year, down 7 percent from the previous year.
