Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Glass and Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.82% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hannstar Board (TW:5469), which rose 9.99% or 0.99 points to trade at 10.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Walsin Tech (TW:2492) added 9.97% or 1.70 points to end at 18.75 and Swancor (TW:4733) was up 9.91% or 23.00 points to 255.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which fell 9.98% or 0.47 points to trade at 4.24 at the close. Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) declined 7.03% or 0.23 points to end at 3.04 and China Tv (TW:9928) was down 5.35% or 0.65 points to 11.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 572 to 264 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Walsin Tech (TW:2492) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.97% or 1.70 to 18.75.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.18% or 0.08 to $44.68 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.13% or 0.06 to hit $48.05 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.21% or 2.50 to trade at $1165.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.33% to 32.401, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1949.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 97.02.
