Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.24%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which rose 3.76% or 6.10 points to trade at 168.30 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK) added 3.22% or 8.60 points to end at 275.55 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 2.77% or 7.45 points to 275.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which lost 2.94% or 32.05 points to trade at 1059.85 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) declined 2.03% or 9.80 points to end at 472.35 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) shed 1.34% or 7.00 points to 516.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which rose 2.90% to 274.80, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 2.81% to settle at 276.05 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which gained 1.17% to close at 381.25.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.31% to 2426.75 in late trade, Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which lost 0.94% to settle at 1476.05 and Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was down 0.93% to 2838.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 807 to 692 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1433 fell and 1314 advanced, while 208 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.20% to 11.9775.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.24% or 3.05 to $1244.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.61% or 0.29 to hit $47.99 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.26 to trade at $50.82 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 65.410, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 70.6764.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 99.48.
