Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT), which rose 1.09% or 0.1300 points to trade at 12.0700 at the close. Meanwhile, Sonae (LISBON:YSO) added 1.00% or 0.0110 points to end at 1.1130 and Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI) was up 0.67% or 0.0060 points to 0.9080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil (LISBON:MOTA), which fell 4.70% or 0.1010 points to trade at 2.0500 at the close. Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) declined 3.77% or 0.0002 points to end at 0.0051 and Semapa (LISBON:SEM) was down 2.95% or 0.3650 points to 12.0200.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 34 to 15 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) fell to all time lows; down 3.77% or 0.0002 to 0.0051.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 0.90% or 0.45 to $49.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.17% or 0.53 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.00 to trade at $1136.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.1241, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 95.83.
