Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Energy and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 6.38% or 1.50 points to trade at 25.00 at the close. Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) added 4.44% or 1.04 points to end at 24.45 and Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) was up 3.27% or 1.73 points to 54.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which lost 2.85% or 1.86 points to trade at 63.41 in late trade. Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) declined 2.78% or 1.50 points to end at 52.50 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) shed 2.45% or 0.72 points to 28.63.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 276 to 249 and 186 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.46% or 0.61 to $41.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.12% or 0.49 to hit $43.42 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.46% or 6.15 to trade at $1340.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.22% to 4.3605, while USD/PLN fell 0.48% to 3.9322.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 96.55.
