Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.64% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 5.50% or 0.171 points to trade at 3.279 at the close. Meanwhile, Indra A (MC:IDR) added 3.78% or 0.331 points to end at 9.091 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) was up 2.85% or 0.045 points to 1.623 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG), which fell 4.74% or 0.372 points to trade at 7.478 at the close. Ferrovial (MC:FER) declined 4.56% or 0.915 points to end at 19.155 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) was down 4.27% or 0.655 points to 14.675.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 172 to 50.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.91% or 9.90 to $1077.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.69% or 0.82 to hit $31.30 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.64% or 0.49 to trade at $30.68 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0863, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.7542.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 99.16.
