Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 5.65% or 0.0064 points to trade at 0.1194 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 4.17% or 0.0245 points to end at 0.6125 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 2.01% or 0.505 points to 25.640 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO), which lost 2.53% or 23 points to trade at 887 in late trade. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 1.53% or 4.90 points to end at 316.00 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) shed 0.67% or 2.00 points to 295.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 118 to 95 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.09% to 34.830.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.73% or 21.70 to $1229.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.96% or 0.46 to hit $48.54 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.23 to trade at $48.58 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.39% to 66.5643, while EUR/RUB fell 1.43% to 74.221.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.35% at 95.56.
