Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Insurance and Chemical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 2.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4151), which rose 7.76% or 128.0 points to trade at 1778.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6976) added 6.29% or 92.0 points to end at 1554.0 and Mazda Motor Corp. (TOKYO:7261) was up 5.92% or 105.0 points to 1880.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Japan Tobacco Inc (TOKYO:2914), which fell 6.72% or 266.0 points to trade at 3695.0 at the close. Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5707) declined 1.80% or 5.0 points to end at 273.0 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TOKYO:7003) was down 1.71% or 3.0 points to 172.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1709 to 161 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5707) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.80% or 5.0 to 273.0. Shares in Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TOKYO:7003) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.71% or 3.0 to 172.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.79% to 32.19.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.57% or 0.26 to $44.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.47% or 0.23 to hit $48.01 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.80 to trade at $1124.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.20% to 119.98, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 134.70.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.21.
