Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Construction and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr), which rose 8.57% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.760 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca Cola HBC AG (AT:EEEr) added 4.13% or 0.8000 points to end at 20.1900 and Kleeman Hellas (AT:KLEr) was up 3.60% or 0.05 points to 1.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr), which fell 6.45% or 0.98 points to trade at 14.21 at the close. Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) declined 6.29% or 0.10 points to end at 1.49 and Reds (AT:CAMr) was down 5.44% or 0.019 points to 0.330.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 53 to 48 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.55% or 5.90 to $1068.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.77% or 1.00 to hit $37.14 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.70% or 0.61 to trade at $36.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.0892, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.7326.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 98.53.
