Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Media, Utilities and Software sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.44%, while the MDAX index lost 0.57%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which rose 0.52% or 0.145 points to trade at 28.145 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 0.24% or 0.025 points to end at 10.485 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 0.21% or 0.170 points to 80.530 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 1.98% or 0.230 points to trade at 11.410 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.72% or 1.270 points to end at 72.520 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 1.53% or 1.850 points to 119.150.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 3.06% to 31.670, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 1.49% to settle at 29.230 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 1.05% to close at 50.990.
The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 5.40% to 35.62 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 2.42% to settle at 5.12 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 2.13% to 56.85 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 1.26% to 46.770, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 1.07% to settle at 4.912 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 1.00% to close at 23.300.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 2.80% to 42.990 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 1.89% to settle at 28.000 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.70% to 34.070 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 547 to 308 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.98% to 15.67 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.22% or 3.00 to $1341.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.11% or 1.44 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.62% or 1.25 to trade at $46.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1230, while EUR/GBP rose 1.03% to 0.8662.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.38.
