Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 4.40% or 0.900 points to trade at 21.350 at the close. MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 2.68% or 18.00 points to end at 688.50 and GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) was up 2.39% or 0.0147 points to 0.6307 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which lost 2.14% or 0.0540 points to trade at 2.4700 in late trade. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 1.86% or 65.0 points to end at 3430.0 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) shed 1.14% or 0.790 points to 68.500.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 112 to 98 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.87% to 33.010.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.34% or 17.75 to $1338.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.27% or 0.13 to hit $48.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.13 to trade at $49.58 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.14% to 64.0653, while EUR/RUB rose 0.06% to 71.372.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 95.71.
