Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.43%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 3.56% or 0.175 points to trade at 5.090 at the close. Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 2.66% or 1.08 points to end at 41.69 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 2.46% or 0.32 points to 13.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY), which lost 0.64% or 0.18 points to trade at 28.68 in late trade. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 0.36% or 0.031 points to end at 8.609 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) gained 0.42% or 0.13 points to 31.26.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which rose 3.97% to 29.07, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 3.83% to settle at 3.928 and Plastic Omnium (PA:PLOF) which gained 3.68% to close at 28.59.
The worst performers were Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which was down 1.46% to 4.040 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which lost 1.01% to settle at 34.835 and Amundi SA (PA:AMUN) which was down 0.87% to 44.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 470 to 188 and 116 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 5.92% to 19.29.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.15 to $1317.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.31% or 0.57 to hit $44.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 0.57 to trade at $46.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1174, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8568.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 95.74.
