Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Warehousing and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Comsys Holdings Corp. (T:1721), which rose 4.52% or 76.0 points to trade at 1759.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (T:8253) added 4.14% or 96.0 points to end at 2413.0 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506) was up 3.45% or 56.0 points to 1679.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sekisui House, Ltd. (T:1928), which fell 4.98% or 103.5 points to trade at 1976.0 at the close. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) declined 2.62% or 12.0 points to end at 446.0 and Maruha Nichiro Corp (T:1333) was down 2.27% or 44.0 points to 1891.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1285 to 588.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 7.31% to 21.05.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.45% or 0.17 to $36.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $39.56 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.19% or 2.00 to trade at $1070.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.31% to 121.97, while EUR/JPY rose 0.36% to 133.49.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.96.
