Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 1.65%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 6.66% or 0.6850 points to trade at 10.9750 at the close. Meanwhile, Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) added 3.91% or 0.0110 points to end at 0.2920 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 2.84% or 0.3700 points to 13.4050 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Teixeira Duarte (LS:TDSA), which fell 0.54% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.3650 at the close. Impresa SGPS (LS:IMPA) added 0.21% or 0.0010 points to end at 0.4710 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 0.58% or 0.0003 points to 0.0518.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 43 to 12 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Teixeira Duarte (LS:TDSA) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.54% or 0.0020 to 0.3650.
Brent oil for February delivery was up 2.76% or 0.99 to $37.10 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.76% or 1.36 to hit $37.50 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.51% or 5.50 to trade at $1068.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.0876, while EUR/GBP fell 0.98% to 0.7316.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 98.62.
