Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Construction and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.19%, while the MDAX index gained 1.15%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 3.96% or 4.100 points to trade at 107.700 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 3.48% or 0.525 points to end at 15.615 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) was up 2.38% or 0.450 points to 19.375 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 2.63% or 2.060 points to trade at 76.170 in late trade. Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG) declined 1.62% or 1.290 points to end at 78.410 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 1.52% or 0.129 points to 8.385.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 7.04% to 85.900, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 4.46% to settle at 26.915 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 4.10% to close at 100.200.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was down 4.92% to 11.120 in late trade, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which lost 1.73% to settle at 31.330 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 1.67% to 10.910 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 5.36% to 3.361, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 4.15% to settle at 9.572 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which gained 3.23% to close at 13.730.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which was down 1.62% to 215.000 in late trade, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which lost 1.15% to settle at 155.400 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 0.92% to 27.515 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 473 to 276 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.62% to 26.27.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.98% or 11.90 to $1232.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.62% or 0.86 to hit $33.64 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.82% or 1.00 to trade at $36.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.0863, while EUR/GBP fell 0.95% to 0.7807.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 98.36.
