Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 1.41%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 2.63% or 1.870 points to trade at 72.970 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 1.87% or 0.370 points to end at 20.140 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 1.00% or 26.0 points to 2615.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which fell 4.43% or 0.875 points to trade at 18.855 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 3.47% or 4700 points to end at 130800 and RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) was down 2.41% or 0.0129 points to 0.5230.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 126 to 63 and 11 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.13% to 30.690.
Gold for August delivery was down 2.16% or 24.40 to $1107.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.41% or 0.72 to hit $50.49 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.55 to trade at $56.55 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.09% to 56.904, while EUR/RUB rose 0.16% to 61.764.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 98.02.
