Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Rubber, Insurance and Trading sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 7.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (T:8725), which rose 12.78% or 324.0 points to trade at 2859.0 at the close. Meanwhile, T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) added 12.72% or 130.0 points to end at 1152.0 and The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. (T:8750) was up 12.41% or 148.0 points to 1340.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865), which fell 4.41% or 29.0 points to trade at 628.0 at the close. Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) declined 3.26% or 47.0 points to end at 1393.0 and Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (T:3863) was down 3.20% or 60.0 points to 1816.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1832 to 49 and 9 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 18.10% to 40.82.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.66% or 0.20 to $29.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.27% or 0.09 to hit $33.27 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.65% or 20.50 to trade at $1218.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.60% to 113.89, while EUR/JPY rose 0.27% to 127.83.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 96.20.
