Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Glass, Iron & Steel and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.24% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538) added 9.99% or 0.78 points to end at 8.59 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) was up 9.87% or 2.70 points to 30.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Action Electronics Co Ltd (TW:3024), which lost 5.64% or 0.480 points to trade at 8.030 in late trade. Inventec Besta Co Ltd (TW:8201) declined 5.52% or 0.85 points to end at 14.55 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) shed 4.61% or 1.00 points to 20.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 627 to 170 and 84 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $43.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $45.99 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 3.48 to trade at $1246.98 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 30.465, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2242.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 97.41.
