Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Finance & Investment and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.21%, while the ADX General index added 0.40%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which rose 6.96% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.230 at the close. Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) added 6.19% or 3.90 points to end at 66.90 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was up 2.83% or 0.030 points to 1.090 in late trade.

Biggest losers included AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which lost 2.76% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.410 in late trade. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) declined 2.14% or 0.060 points to end at 2.750 and Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) shed 1.36% or 0.030 points to 2.170.

The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which rose 2.70% to 0.760, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which was up 2.19% to settle at 11.65 and Methaq (AD:METH) which gained 1.30% to close at 0.780.

The worst performers were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 3.96% to 0.9700 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which lost 2.57% to settle at 4.93 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 2.50% to 5.85 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 18 to 11 and 10 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 9 fell and 7 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.93% or 0.42 to $45.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.00% or 0.47 to hit $47.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.30% or 17.00 to trade at $1291.20 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.22% to 4.0668.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 97.37.
