Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electronic Parts/Components and Computers & Peripherals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Radiant (TW:6176), which rose 10.00% or 7.60 points to trade at 83.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Qisda (TW:2352) added 9.66% or 0.89 points to end at 10.10 and Candmark (TW:5259) was up 9.62% or 1.00 points to 11.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Min Aik (TW:3060), which fell 10.00% or 5.55 points to trade at 49.95 at the close. Htc Corp (TW:2498) declined 7.82% or 4.30 points to end at 50.70 and Johnson (TW:1736) was down 7.07% or 4.40 points to 57.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 508 to 332 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Min Aik (TW:3060) fell to 3-years lows; falling 10.00% or 5.55 to 49.95. Shares in Htc Corp (TW:2498) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.82% or 4.30 to 50.70. Shares in Johnson (TW:1736) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.07% or 4.40 to 57.80.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.58% or 0.25 to $43.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.61% or 0.30 to hit $50.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.80 to trade at $1120.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.31% to 32.160, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.1998.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 96.58.
