Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.80% to hit a new 6-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which rose 1.96% or 6.900 points to trade at 358.800 at the close. Wipro Ltd . (NS:WIPR) added 1.00% or 4.35 points to end at 441.50 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 0.84% or 2.30 points to 277.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which lost 8.79% or 15.55 points to trade at 161.40 in late trade. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) declined 6.27% or 17.30 points to end at 258.50 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) shed 6.04% or 1317.30 points to 20475.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which rose 1.04% to 441.65, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 0.44% to settle at 2132.55 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 0.36% to close at 690.75.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 6.51% to 257.75 in late trade, POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which lost 3.57% to settle at 185.05 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 3.52% to 371.55 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1340 to 160 and 36 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2185 fell and 396 advanced, while 145 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.26% to 19.0975.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.25 to $1214.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.94% or 0.90 to hit $47.26 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 0.90 to trade at $47.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 68.171, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 72.5220.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 101.05.
