Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Semiconductor and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Eson (TW:5243), which rose 10.00% or 3.80 points to trade at 41.80 at the close. Via Tech (TW:2388) added 10.00% or 1.05 points to end at 11.55 and Hsing Ta Cemen (TW:1109) was up 9.95% or 1.00 points to 11.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 6.70% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.95 in late trade. Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) declined 5.93% or 0.80 points to end at 12.70 and Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) shed 4.31% or 0.100 points to 2.220.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 530 to 206 and 117 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.24% or 0.11 to $46.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $49.09 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1329.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.24% to 31.689, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2091.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.71.
