Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 3.35% or 0.365 points to trade at 11.260 at the close. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 2.54% or 0.117 points to end at 4.730 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) was up 2.35% or 0.077 points to 3.346 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE), which lost 2.17% or 0.835 points to trade at 37.635 in late trade. Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) declined 0.75% or 0.330 points to end at 43.750 and Endesa (MC:ELE) shed 0.30% or 0.060 points to 19.855.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 127 to 44 and 12 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.28% or 3.30 to $1196.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.70% or 0.37 to hit $52.64 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.28 to trade at $55.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0638, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8712.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 101.22.
