Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.62% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 3.55% or 1.85 points to trade at 54.00 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.95% or 2.310 points to end at 80.630 and NN Group (AS:NN) was up 2.28% or 0.71 points to 31.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 1.23% or 0.086 points to trade at 6.915 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 0.87% or 0.13 points to end at 14.87 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) shed 0.55% or 0.22 points to 39.52.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 40 and 3 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.56% to 13.00.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 4.02% or 1.92 to $45.90 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 3.78% or 1.92 to hit $48.87 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.30% or 16.20 to trade at $1232.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.79% to 1.0972, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8493.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 98.68.
