Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 4.79% or 0.0066 points to trade at 0.1445 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 4.36% or 0.0260 points to end at 0.6230 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 3.00% or 2.53 points to 87.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MTS (MCX:MTSS), which lost 4.58% or 12.30 points to trade at 256.00 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 4.11% or 1.040 points to end at 24.240 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) shed 3.08% or 1.600 points to 50.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 125 to 96 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.04% to 35.080.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.37% or 17.65 to $1305.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.10% or 1.49 to hit $46.52 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.02% or 1.48 to trade at $47.49 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.01% to 65.5533, while EUR/RUB fell 0.54% to 73.362.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 95.08.
