Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Food & Drug Retailers and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Sports Direct International PLC (LON:SPD), which rose 2.98% or 10.800 points to trade at 372.700 at the close. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) added 2.01% or 6.00 points to end at 304.10 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 1.97% or 10.500 points to 543.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 3.15% or 110.00 points to trade at 3379.00 in late trade. Aberdeen Asset Management PLC (LON:ADN) declined 3.02% or 8.80 points to end at 283.00 and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) shed 2.89% or 7.400 points to 248.600.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1018 to 947 and 502 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.16% or 1.95 to $1221.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $49.61 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $49.81 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.24% to 1.4659, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.7623.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 95.26.
