Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Power and Gas & Water sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.76%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Kansai Electric Power Co. (TOKYO:9503), which rose 9.62% or 123.0 points to trade at 1401.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Terumo Corp. (TOKYO:4543) added 9.13% or 290.0 points to end at 3465.0 and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8801) was up 6.28% or 196.0 points to 3315.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sharp Corp. (TOKYO:6753), which fell 5.81% or 9.0 points to trade at 146.0 at the close. NGK Insulators, Ltd. (TOKYO:5333) declined 4.56% or 109.0 points to end at 2280.0 and Olympus Corp. (TOKYO:7733) was down 3.41% or 140.0 points to 3965.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1575 to 301.
Shares in Sharp Corp. (TOKYO:6753) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.81% or 9.0 to 146.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.07% to 28.82 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.80% or 0.36 to $45.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.49% or 0.23 to hit $48.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.68% or 7.80 to trade at $1146.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.32% to 120.44, while EUR/JPY fell 0.33% to 134.45.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 96.50.
