Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Foods & Drugs and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.49% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 3.14% or 0.10 points to trade at 3.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Essilor International Compagnie Generale d`Optique SA (PA:ESSI) added 1.58% or 1.70 points to end at 109.45 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 1.13% or 0.42 points to 38.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which fell 6.61% or 0.641 points to trade at 9.059 at the close. Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) declined 2.99% or 1.07 points to end at 34.91 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was down 2.47% or 2.00 points to 79.06.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alten (PA:LTEN) which rose 3.80% to 51.20, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was up 3.14% to settle at 3.15 and STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which gained 1.67% to close at 5.343.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 9.68% to 24.715 in late trade, Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which lost 8.44% to settle at 36.66 and Adocia (PA:ADOC) which was down 8.27% to 54.000 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 582 to 177 and 35 ended unchanged.
Shares in Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.61% or 0.641 to 9.059. Shares in Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) fell to 3-years lows; down 2.47% or 2.00 to 79.06. Shares in Genfit (PA:GNFT) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.68% or 2.650 to 24.715. Shares in Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.44% or 3.38 to 36.66.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.58% to 33.33.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.15% or 1.60 to $1089.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.22% or 0.37 to hit $30.02 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.21 to trade at $28.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.0891, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.7632.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 99.16.
