Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which rose 3.54% or 2.88 points to trade at 84.18 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 1.90% or 0.08 points to end at 4.19 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was up 1.70% or 0.18 points to 11.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN), which lost 2.04% or 0.40 points to trade at 19.25 in late trade. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) declined 1.93% or 0.45 points to end at 22.57 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) shed 1.92% or 0.200 points to 10.225.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 81 to 71 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.02% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.22% or 1.49 to $47.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.66% or 1.27 to hit $49.10 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.31% or 3.95 to trade at $1276.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1332, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.7865.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 94.45.
