Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.83% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Sberbank (MCX:SBER), which rose 3.81% or 5.92 points to trade at 161.15 at the close. Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) added 3.27% or 3.74 points to end at 118.24 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 2.87% or 95.0 points to 3410.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which lost 3.02% or 0.1205 points to trade at 3.8695 in late trade. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 2.65% or 8.00 points to end at 294.00 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) shed 1.80% or 3.70 points to 202.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 121 to 95 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.42% to 24.120.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.38% or 4.50 to $1183.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $48.94 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 64.4725, while EUR/RUB rose 0.33% to 68.034.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 101.75.
