Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.97% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 3.87% or 0.4300 points to trade at 11.5500 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) added 3.00% or 0.0900 points to end at 3.0950 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was up 2.99% or 0.2470 points to 8.5040 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 4.52% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1480 in late trade. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) declined 3.64% or 0.0016 points to end at 0.0423 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) shed 0.87% or 0.1220 points to 13.9080.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 25 to 19 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was up 2.33% or 0.94 to $41.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.64% or 1.40 to hit $39.86 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 2.84% or 34.90 to trade at $1264.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.87% to 1.1323, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.7817.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 94.73.
