Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 2.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 7.00% or 0.225 points to trade at 3.440 at the close. Banco Popular (MC:POP) added 5.25% or 0.107 points to end at 2.147 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) was up 5.15% or 0.073 points to 1.491 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG), which lost 1.67% or 0.117 points to trade at 6.896 in late trade. Indra A (MC:IDR) added 0.28% or 0.024 points to end at 8.489 and FCC (MC:FCC) gained 0.44% or 0.028 points to 6.450.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 173 to 38 and 16 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.71% or 21.10 to $1209.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 5.95% or 1.89 to hit $33.64 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 5.36% or 1.77 to trade at $34.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.03% to 1.1016, while EUR/GBP rose 0.75% to 0.7785.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.87% at 97.46.
