Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Plastic, Iron & Steel and Chemical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.54% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452), which rose 10.00% or 2.30 points to trade at 25.30 at the close. Tpcc (TW:4725) added 9.86% or 1.45 points to end at 16.15 and Yoko Tech (TW:6131) was up 9.84% or 0.90 points to 10.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which lost 8.75% or 0.21 points to trade at 2.19 in late trade. L&K Eng (TW:6139) declined 5.80% or 1.65 points to end at 26.80 and Candmark (TW:5259) shed 5.22% or 0.34 points to 6.17.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.24% or 0.08 to $32.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.17% or 0.41 to hit $35.51 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.57% or 7.00 to trade at $1227.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.47% to 33.328, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1967.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 97.98.
