United Arab Emirates shares higher at close of trade; DFM General up 1.46%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 1.46% to hit a new 3-month high, while the ADX General index added 0.48%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which rose 14.58% or 0.210 points to trade at 1.650 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) added 7.77% or 0.150 points to end at 2.080 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) was up 6.60% or 0.060 points to 0.969 in late trade.

Biggest losers included SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which lost 3.19% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.455 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Bank (DU:DISB) declined 1.25% or 0.080 points to end at 6.310 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) shed 1.01% or 0.004 points to 0.391.

The top performers on the ADX General were Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which rose 5.56% to 2.85, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was up 3.45% to settle at 0.300 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which gained 2.94% to close at 7.00.

The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 8.68% to 6.00 in late trade, Methaq (AD:METH) which lost 1.54% to settle at 0.640 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 1.22% to 0.810 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 17 to 9 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 rose and 7 declined, while 10 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.36% or 0.46 to $34.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.68% or 0.25 to hit $36.82 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.53% or 6.50 to trade at $1240.90 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.03% to 3.9926.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 98.32.
