Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO), which rose 4.33% or 36 points to trade at 867 at the close. GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) added 3.50% or 0.0224 points to end at 0.6633 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was up 2.88% or 265.0 points to 9466.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which lost 2.06% or 1.32 points to trade at 62.88 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.03% or 1.68 points to end at 81.00 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) shed 1.11% or 0.0008 points to 0.0692.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 120 to 87 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.87% to 33.170.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.57% or 6.90 to $1213.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.53% or 0.26 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.39 to trade at $49.20 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.42% to 66.0914, while EUR/RUB fell 0.19% to 73.590.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 95.52.
