Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LS:SEM), which rose 2.43% or 0.2850 points to trade at 12.0150 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 1.47% or 0.0520 points to end at 3.5790 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) was up 1.24% or 0.0860 points to 7.0250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 1.65% or 0.0003 points to trade at 0.0179 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 0.56% or 0.0010 points to end at 0.1790 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 0.29% or 0.0050 points to 1.7430.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 30 to 18 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was up 1.83% or 0.91 to $50.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.78% or 1.30 to hit $48.09 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.45% or 6.05 to trade at $1354.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1332, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8619.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 94.29.
