Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 2.10% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA), which rose 0.38% or 0.40 points to trade at 105.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Indra A (MC:IDR) added 0.22% or 0.020 points to end at 9.240 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was down 0.20% or 0.020 points to 10.090 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL), which fell 7.23% or 0.403 points to trade at 5.174 at the close. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) declined 7.14% or 0.140 points to end at 1.820 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was down 6.71% or 0.242 points to 3.367.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 173 to 35 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.23% or 0.403 to 5.174. Shares in Sacyr (MC:SCYR) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.14% or 0.140 to 1.820. Shares in Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) fell to all time lows; down 6.71% or 0.242 to 3.367.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.14% or 12.30 to $1063.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.05% or 0.73 to hit $36.35 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.20 to trade at $38.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.25% to 1.1021, while EUR/GBP rose 0.73% to 0.7278.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.50.
