Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 2.88% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were DIeteren SA (BR:IETB), which fell 0.85% or 0.240 points to trade at 28.005 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (BR:ELI) fell 0.96% or 0.410 points to end at 42.250 and UCB (BR:UCB) was down 1.54% or 1.21 points to 77.22 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which fell 4.14% or 4.55 points to trade at 105.30 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 4.04% or 1.580 points to end at 37.510 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was down 3.97% or 3.09 points to 74.71.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 145 to 9 and 4 ended unchanged.

Gold for February delivery was up 1.43% or 15.60 to $1104.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 5.99% or 1.77 to hit $27.80 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 4.99% or 1.44 to trade at $27.32 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.0912, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.7696.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 99.02.
