Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.10% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 0.78% or 0.420 points to trade at 54.470 at the close. Meanwhile, Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 0.09% or 0.08 points to end at 92.20 and Elia (BR:ELI) was down 0.01% or 0.005 points to 42.265 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which fell 3.15% or 3.65 points to trade at 112.40 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) declined 2.27% or 0.84 points to end at 36.10 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was down 2.08% or 0.56 points to 26.31.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 107 to 49 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.26% or 2.80 to $1074.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.99% or 1.10 to hit $35.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 5.42% or 2.15 to trade at $37.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.0991, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.7221.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 97.54.
