Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Pharma & Bio-technology, Construction & Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.87% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were DIeteren SA (BR:IETB), which rose 1.75% or 0.545 points to trade at 31.750 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (BR:ELI) added 1.59% or 0.670 points to end at 42.885 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.62% or 0.23 points to 37.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB (BR:UCB), which fell 2.67% or 2.24 points to trade at 81.64 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 2.17% or 2.80 points to end at 126.45 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was down 1.30% or 0.06 points to 4.79.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 96 to 59 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) fell to all time lows; falling 1.30% or 0.06 to 4.79.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.09% or 1.00 to $1074.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.45% or 0.17 to hit $37.34 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.20 to trade at $40.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.85% to 1.0985, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7246.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.77% at 97.65.
